Hardware that works with BuiltPOS

What the register runs on, the devices it connects to, and how each one connects. Use what you already have where it fits, and check here before you buy anything new.

Registers

The BuiltPOS register is the same app on every device, with the same products, prices and reports.

  • Windows

    Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit

Desktop and all-in-one touchscreen computers. BuiltLauncher can lock a dedicated register so staff cannot get to the Windows desktop.

  • iPad and iPhone

iPadOS or iOS 17 or newer

A full register on an iPad, or a phone as a second register on a busy day.

  • Android

    Android 8.0 or newer

Tablets and phones. The register has a phone layout for ringing up away from the counter.

  • Sunmi

    K2, D2 and T2

Android registers with a printer built in. BuiltPOS prints receipts on it and opens the cash drawer connected to the device.

The Windows and Android register apps are on the downloads page. The iPad and iPhone register is on the App Store.

Card terminals

BuiltPOS sends the amount to the terminal and saves the result with the sale. Your card terminal and your card processing come from your payment processor.

Receipt printers and cash drawers

Receipts print on standard thermal printers. Pick the connection that suits each register.

On your network

ESC/POS thermal printers on Ethernet or Wi-Fi, set up by IP address.

Every register

Installed in Windows

Any printer installed in Windows, including USB and Bluetooth printers.

Windows registers

Built into Sunmi

The printer inside the Sunmi K2, D2 and T2. Nothing to pair.

Sunmi devices

Paper
80 mm or 58 mm thermal rolls
Cash drawer
Plugs into the receipt printer, or into a Sunmi device
iPad, iPhone and Android
Use a network printer or a Sunmi built-in printer

Kitchen printers and screens

Send each item to the station that makes it, on paper, on a screen or both.

Kitchen printers

Give each prep station its own printer, either on your network or installed in Windows. Tickets for that station print there.

Kitchen display screens

BuiltKDS runs on Android tablets and wall-mounted displays with Android 8.0 or newer, and on Windows. Tickets arrive from the registers and the self-order kiosk.

Bump tickets with a tap, or with a USB number keypad or a bump bar that sends number keys.

Label printers

Print shelf and barcode labels from your products.

Zebra
ZD, ZT, GT and GK series, on your network
TSC
TE, TC and DA series, on your network
Brother QL
Through the Windows driver, with Brother DK labels, for example on the QL-800

Barcode scanners

A scan adds the item to the sale. No special scanner is needed.

USB and Bluetooth scanners

Scanners that type like a keyboard work on every register.

The camera

On a phone or tablet, the built-in camera can scan barcodes.

Built-in scanners

Android devices with a scanner built in, such as Sunmi, can send scans straight to the register. Turn this on in the register's settings.

ID checks

A 2D scanner reads the barcode on the back of a US or Canadian driver's license to check a customer's age.

Scales

Sell by weight at the register, or ring up labels printed by your deli scale.

A scale at the register

A scale on your store network can send its live weight to the register. Scales on a serial cable or USB are not supported yet, so ask us before you buy one.

Scale labels

Labels from a deli, meat or produce scale ring up at the right price. The register reads the item number and the price or weight from the label's barcode once you set the label format in your store settings.

Customer screens and kiosks

Show customers their order as it is rung up, or let them order for themselves.

A second monitor

Plug a second monitor into a Windows register and the customer display opens on it.

A screen with a browser

Any tablet or screen with a web browser on your store network can show the order. Customers can choose a tip on it.

Self-order kiosks

BuiltKIOSK runs on the Sunmi K2, D2 and T2, or on any Android tablet with Android 8.0 or newer.

Fuel

BuiltPOS runs your pumps through the Technotrade PTS-2 forecourt controller. Your dispensers, price signs and tank probes connect to the PTS-2, and the register talks to it over your store network.

Other forecourt controllers are not supported yet.
